I told Jacob that I would give him 2 dollars if he helped me bathe the dogs. So he thought about it and looked at me and said, "no, three dollars". HaHaHa it was so cute how could I tell him no. :o)

I found out recently what the terrible two's really mean. I thought we might pass them by because at the begining of 2 Jacob wasnt bad at all. He isn't bad now but oh my gosh does he whine! It drives me absolutely crazy! He always redeems himself though ... like today, he woke up at 6am, and i asked him if he wanted to come lay in my bed with me. He said yes so i carried him in there layed him down on Dusty's side since he was alread awake getting ready for work, and he turned and faced me, put his arm around my neck and leaned in and kissed me. And he is definitely in an i want mom mood, which if good sometimes like when he wants to be sweet and cuddle and bad others like when he wants to be rotten and whine. :o)

What else is new? I know there is so much but gosh when it is time to type how my mind forgets. Jacob got his new bike from Mawmaw Dot. He couldnt get it goin while the bike was inside but when we took him out to the sidewalk it was much easier for him to pedal. Now we just need to work on his steering. You would think he was a drunk driver if he were in a car. :o)

Oh well, thats all for tonight I suppose, I need to post sooner so I don't forget all of the little fun things to share.

Weekend Fun!!!

We had a family pool get together this weekend to celebrate Cathy's birthday. It was so much fun. We had bought Jacob an innertube thing. It is actually a shirt with an inner tube attached. It was great except Jacob is not that good at balancing himself th keep from falling over on his side. So i still had to hold onto his hands and if i let go he got really scared. Then we got the idea to put floaties on him too. so he had the shirt with the innertube and then the floaties on his arms and he took off. It took him a few minutes to realize that they helped balance him and he could do it on his own, but once he realized it he was all over the place. It was soooo cute. Of course I forgot my camera so I have no pics right now but there was a camera there I just have to wait to get copies from my sister in law. It was a blast though. It is so fun to watch Jacob swimming around like a little fish. He has gotten so big and he is so grown.
Today I told him "you're silly" and he said, " no i not mommy, I Jacob". So I said "You're good lookin" and he replied "Yes I are" ... haha
I left him on the couch today watching a tv show while I went to mow the yard. When I came back in he had laid down and covered himself with a towel that was close by. The he was fast asleep. I guess I should be putting him down for a nap but it is so hard to do when he is in such a good mood. I figure skipping a few naps won't kill him. Plus if he gets tired enough he obviously goes to sleep himself.
We also bought him a slip and slide today. it was really cheap but I guess we should have thought about the fact that he is still a little young. Of course he still went out there and walked down the slide and splashed in the water. He had fun, just didnt use it how it should be used. we laid him on his belly at one point and pushed him down the slide. I dont know that he liked it so much but her didnt get too upset either. Either way he played in the water, wore himself out, and had a blast.

Terrible two's???

I am sooo frustrated! Jacob has always gone to sleep so well. When he was a baby we used to just lay him in the crib and he went to sleep. When we moved him to his big boy bed I thought we were going to have a problem with him going to sleep and we didn't. He went to bed so well until now. What in the world is going on? He went to bed late tonight at 9. It is now 9:45 and he is still awake. he cries and then wakes up and walks out of his room. He wants everything under the sun but bed. If we do manage to keep him in his room and in his bed he crys in there for 30-45 min at least. I am so sick of dealing with a child that won't go to sleep and NOTHING works! Please tell me this is a short short phase and it will stop.

It was Huge!

I was sitting on the couch tonight and Oh My GOODNESS! I heard something so I decided I would look down and see what it was. Have you ever heard a spider crawling? I didn't think you could hear a spider crawling. But I did. I was huge and it was coming right for my arm. Of course I FREAKED! Dusty says he thought I saw a snake ( not just any snake, a boa constrictor). HaHaHa ... not it was just a huge spider. I looked it up and I think it was a giant house spider. There is actually a technical name for it but I cannot remember and I do not want to look it up again. :o) They say that spiders are more scared of us than we are of them but I promise you that that spider was NOT afraid of me. It was coming straight towards me like I was dinner. Naturally I jumped, ran and grabbed the spider spray (and the camera). I wasn;t able to get a picture though until it had started to curl up and die. So the picture doesnt show how huge it really was. They say these spiders can get up to 3 inches long. I would say it was close with its legs fully spread.

I promise youthis picture does not do it justice. especially when the spider is inches away from crawling onto your arm. We took a trip out to camp in Manchesrer, TN and Old Stone Fort State Park. It was fun except for the fact that Jacob was sooooooo whiny this trip. It gave a whole new meanng to the saying terrible two's. I believe it is what makes people decide not to have any more children. I believe that our camping neighbors must have hated us. Jacob was so whiney but he would stay up late watching movies on the laptop. We have to bring something to entertain him. So he stayed up late and when it was time to go to bed (very late) he would whine and cry and throw a fit. In fact I think he is the King of telling us he wants something and then when we get it he throws a fit that he doesnt want it and so we put it down and he throws a fit that we put it down and he wants it again. Oh I could definitely live without those moments of stress that come along with the terrible two's. But then there are the moments that you just want to grab him and hg him and kiss him and I just cannot get enough of him. Like today when he told me I was chocolate and then proceeded to pretend to eat me. I love the imagination of a little one. It is definitely cute. Or there is the time on our hike that we put him doen and he found some rocks and piled them on top of wach other and called them his rock garden and then got 2 sticks and those were his drumsticks. I wish had this imagination of a child sometimes. They can make anything out of nothing.

So our camping was fun but the best part is always the waterfalls. Here are a few pics from our hikes.

The first one was Sycamore falls. It was very pretty, even though it was not too big.

The rocks were VERY Slippery and I was upset that we forgot out water shoes for this one. I wanted to get behing the falls but had enough trouble getting out far enough just to get a picture with them.

The water was soooo clear and you could see the fish swimming at your feet. It was not too crowded. Actually there was no one else down at the base of the falls when we were there. It was nice.

<div style="border-bottom: medium none; It is the snake that crossed the path while we were hiking.

We had a lot gong on last week and still made it home in time to relax the weekend away before having to go back to work. Where does the vacation time go. It always seems like time goes so slow leading up to the vacation and then poof it is gone like the snap of your fingers.

Jacob and His Sucker

So today I came home from work and I said Jacob I have a present for you. He looked at me and said " ooo candy". HaHa .. i guess i give him candy for presents too often. :o) I said do you know what kind to which he replied "a pink one". I don't understand his fascination with pink but whatever. SO i pulled it out from behind my back and said "no an orange one". He looked at me and said "dat not candy dat tucker". LoL no fooling that kid. so he took it and said " WOW, dat for me?, tank you, very cool"
All I can think is toooo cute! I dont know where he gets some of the things he says. Sometimes I realize later that he got them from somehting I say all the time and just dont know it. we will see if this is one of those times. So after my run tonight we went out and watered the plants. and of course Jacob just wanted to play with the water. It started out by him drinking from the hose and laughing when it hit his mouth. Then he was watering the grass and trying to water me. I pulled weeds and then found a very large (FAT) frog. So I picked it up and brought it to him. He loves playing with dirt and bugs and frogs. Such a boy. And even thought I dont like it I have to pretend to so he doesn't stop liking them just because of me. Those are my moments to remember for tonight.

Good Week

I feel so lucky this week. I came home on Tuesday and Dusty had cooked dinner and done the dishes. I think it was tuesday anyways. How wonderful .. I think I have the best husband in the world. SO them today I came home and he had mowed the yard. front and back. :o) I just feel lucky to have him.
I went for a run this evening as usual and when i got back i was hot and sweaty. Jacob climbed up on me and i could push him away even though i was oooo hot! He looked at me and said "mommy you got rain on you". it took me a minute to realize what he had said and then i smiled. I told him it looks like rain but that is sweat. he said"yeah it not rain it jus water". haha what a cutie.
I think he has been more whiney lately. I suppose that comes with being 2. I dont like it but when he says or does cute things it makes me smile and forget those whiney horrible not so fun moments.
Well that is all for tonight. I have to go get on the school website and snag my classes when they drop people for not paying. I forgot to get them on early registration so i am snagging them now. I just hope someone gets dropped. Wish me luck! 2 minutes to go.

Naps in the Car

So today we went to Morgan's frst birthday party. She is so adorable! She turned one today! It was at the zoo. After the party we walked around the zoo and looked at the animals. Jacob was a trooper though I know he wanted to fall asleep at least once. I was holding him and I said "Jacob do you want to go look at the polar bears and sea lions or are you falling asleep?" He said " i go sleep". He never actually did. We finally left the zoo around 4 after we watched the sea lion show. It was a pretty neat show. One of the sea lions even played frisbee. Too Cool!
SO we got in the car and it wasnt long before Jacob fell asleep. We knew once we got home if we woke him up he would be a crab and if we got him out of his car seat he would wake up. So we parked in the shade in front of our house and we al took a nap. It was kind of fun! Sure I wouldn;t do it every day because I am not a kid anymore and I get kinks in my neck and all. But it was fun to do it today. We slept for maybe an hour and then we all woke up. SO glad we decided to nap in the car becase Jacob was in a good mood when he woke up.
Had a date with a really cute guy tonight (yes my hubby). We ate Mexican. It was pretty good. we tried Guacamaya ... oh i hope I spelled that right. We have a buy one get one half off coupon and we both got water so we would up getting dinner for $12. You really cant beat that especially since it was a lot of food and it was soooo YUMMY! After dinner we picked Jacob up and went to PiePie's house (Dusty's dad).
We ate ice cream and watched Superman.
It was a fun, relaxing, but busy day. Tomorow I am sure it will be just as busy. Mother's day cokout at Memaw's house. Goodnight!

WOW

So when was the last time I posted anything on here? I haven't been on here much but thought I would get on and give a little update. If for no other reason at least for me to look back and smile on what was happening in our lives at this time. Or maybe I won't smile. :o)
So our AC unit started putting water out all over our floor. Aparantly it have been clogged and has been draining down through the heater, onto electrical wires, through the filter, and onto the slab and then soaking into the carpet. NOT GOOD!. Well my handy man husband took care of me yet again. He took it apart found the problem, we have air again. We had just turned it on last week anyways but it has started getting in the 80's and I have a breaking point on how hot it can be. :o)
Jacob has been getting bigger and bigger faster and faster. Before I know it he will be grown, right?
He had his first REAL BAD temper tantrum the other day. It was over absolutely nothing too. He woke up in a good mood but the tantrum started when I asked him to go potty. He started " no mommy no, no mommy no." so i went to go put him in front of the potty and he went dead weight on me and kicked his legs. from there it was just down hill. I am glad I remembered to video a little of it. When Dusty got home I let him watch it and I told him he could watch the entire one minute and eight seconds because I had to listen to it for 15 minutes. Ha ... it was pretty bad. I think if you were outside the house you would have thought I was beating him. In reality I was ignoring him as he sat in time out and threw his fit. Oh well I guess that is part of the terrible 2's.
We have such a busy weekend. We have a birthday party for Morgan who is turning one. We have mothers day cookout out at memaws. I would like to make some time to make it out to Amiee's grave but we will have to see. I have not been out there in so long and I would like to replace the flowers that are out there now. That means I have to find time to go buy the flowers. Oh time time where do you go. I have been spending all of my free time that I have now that school is out working on my garden. You can check it out on my other blog.
SO Jacob has some new things he likes to say ... he likes to tell me about how bugs and birds have poop on their face. I don't quite understand why but all I can say is he is a boy. And then when I ask him to do somehtign eh says "Just minute mommy". He sounds so cute when I ask him if he wants somehting and he says "no, not yet mommy" I know me typing it is not the same because you cannot hear the cute little sound but when i read this again I will remember exactally how he sounds. I know you other moms understand.
He loves watch Babe (the pig movie) but he broke it sowe have not watched it in a while. He also love little einstein and of course Mickey Mouse.
Ok well I have typed enough for tonight. I need to try to remember to keep up with all of my blogs and then it wont be such a long post when I finally sit down to type and maybe I will remember a little more. Goodnight!

Family Vacation

We had our first family vacation last week. Well I take that back. We have had family vacations to visit other famil members but this time we packed up and went on a camping trip. We weren't visiting anyone, although my sister Kellie did come with us the first night. It was a get awat just for us, and boy did we need it. It always seems like you wait and wait for your vacation to get here and then when it does it flys by soooooo fast. We are so sad that it is over. I wish that we were on vacation all the time but I suppose we would eventually run out of money.

So we went camping in Fall Creek Falls State Park in Middle TN. We were there from Saturday March 6th until Thursday March 11. We had intentions of staying longer but the rain came. It was supposed to start raining on tuesday but somehow it held off a few more days and we were very thankful! While we were there we saw Fall Creek Falls, Piney Falls and Cane Creek Falls and Cascades.

They were all soooo pretty. Jacob had fun but Dusty wound up carrying him through most of the hikes. I guess it gave him a good workout. We all had good workouts and slept like babies. :o) Kellie and Cody came with us to the first 2 falls Fall Creek and Piney. The next day we went and saw the prettiest falls of our trip.

Burgess Falls.

This waterfall was absolutely BEAUTIFUL! I could have stayed and stared at it all day long. You actually have to hike down loose rocks that are very slippery to get to the base of the falls but it was well worth it. The overlook was pretty but it did not do the waterfall justice comparef to being right up on the falls at the base.

From Burgess Falls State Park we went to Rock Island State Park. I would have to say that this one was Jacob's favorite because there were Rock formations all along it that you could climb. He has a blast and want to get down and climbe them all himself. There were also little pools of water all around and Jacob walked up to them and thought he would put his foot in one. He thought it was shallow but when he put his foot down it sunk all the way to his ankle. It was hilarious!!!! I wish I had the camera on video then but oh well. There were also a few waterfalls there but none that we made it to the base of. It was quite a long trek across all the rocks and you had to cross the river (or maybe there was another enterance from the other side) but either way it was getting late and we didnt make it to the base. We still had fun though. On Tuesday we hung around Fall creek falls and that is when we took the hike to Cane Creek Falls and cascades. We als visited the nature center, which was kinda cool. The rest of the day we sat around camp and let Jacob play on the playground.

The next day it was supposed to rain, but it never actually did. We went to Cumberland Caverns. It was ok, but a little boring, and definitely not worth the $39 it cost to get in. Unless you are a huge cave buff. I wouldn't really think it is the best place for kids (little ones at least) Jacob was ready to leave seconds after we started. But it gave us something to do.

All it all it was was a really fun trip!!! Camping was relaxing and Jacob did really well. We brought some of his movies and the laptp because we figures he would not want to sit out by the campfire the whole time. He would watch his movies and sometimes tll me that he was tired and wanted to lay down. It was so funny since he is normally fighting his sleep. I guess he just got worn out from being outside the whole time.

There were not many other campers after Sunday. That is when the raccoons came. They would get into our trash and make a mess. One night I weent out to go pee and heard them right next to the camper making some noise, I got a flashlight and scared them off and didn't think anything of it. The next night we went to the general stre to see about some batteries for the flashlight(go figure Jacob got ahold f it and left it on all day). When we got back we heard what sounded like a pig, going to town behind our camper. Nope not a pig,, it was a Raccoon. It had gotten in our cooler and was eating our steaks, and aparantely it liked them. Come to find out it had gotten in the cooler the night before and got our brauts and keilbasa sausage. What a rotten little animal. Who would have thought they could open a cooler. So that night we put 2 huge logs ont he trash can and put the cooler in the car, we were thining that we had outsmarted the coon. Nope, we didn't. That stubborn animal sat out at the trash fr 2 hours fighting to get the logs off the trash. I even scared it off 4 times in the night and it continued to come back. It was determined and it finally got the logs off.

Wondering what the picture of the paw prints on the car door are? Stupid me thought I was outsmarting the coon by putting the cooler in the car, but I left my window down. Thank goodness it did not tear anything up, and i don't even think it got anything out of the cooler that night. Maybe it took a nap after struggling with the log for 2 hours. HaHaHa. It would have been funny after it knocked the logs off to go out there and scare him off and put them back on, but after not sleeping half the night I decided I didn't want to hear it any longer. So we let him indulge in our trash.

Our last stop on our way hme was in Nashville to visit the Adventure Science Museum. That was definitely worth the money. Jacob was free and it was $12 for me and Dusty. If we had our student ID's it would have only been $9. Jacob had a blast but I think Dusty and I would have liked it even if we didnt have Jacob with us.

So our first "Family Vacation". A 2 hour wait. We did not stay. We went to Abuelo's ... it was good. We were supposed to wait about 20 min and when 30 min rolled around and they were seating people that came after us we decided to ask and were told that they called us and we never came. I guess those little pager things aren't useful... it never went off and we were waiting outside so when they called us we did not hear. When we asked them about it though we got seated pretty fast. Then our waiter broke my margarita glass right there at the table .. so he brought me another one (FREE) even though I had completely finished the one in the glass he broke. I did not complain. He was a pretty good waiter. We were going to go see Dear John afterwards but decided to rent a movie and go home instead. Much better choice I thought since I am sure the movies were crowded. SO we made a few drinks and watched What Dreams May Come .. it was kind of weird. Then I started thining about Jacob ... he is so freaking cute. When I came home from work the other day he and daddy were hiding under the blanket. I walked in and noticed them (hiding from me) and asked ... "Jacob, Where are you" ... His response was "I don know" ... Haha .. if that didnt give it away I asked " Jacob, Where is Daddy" too which he also said "I don know" ... lol... I just wanted to laugh .. it was so cute. so i lifted the blanket and scared him. so much fun. I love this age except for the rottenness he has sometimes. Too Cute ....

My Baby is Turning Into a Little Man

So Jacob is turning into a little man. For the past week he has been full of all kinds of gas and then just letting them rip while saying "thats me". Oh no shame! And the past 2 times he has gone #2 he has been in the bathroom for 20-30 minutes. I just don't get how men can go in and stay in for so long. Maybe they really aren't doing anything and they are just escaping from their wives for a while ... who knows. If that is the case Jacob is learning VERY young ... lol. Oh enough about the yucky stuff of boys. Aside from all of that he is just getting so big and more and more adorable every day. You know before I was a mom I used to dream about what it would feel like. How could someone have unconditional love like that. Sure we have it with our parents but it is so much different with our children. I know now what it feels like and there are no words to fully describe it . The best way I have been able to is that every second I love him more. I just cannot get enough of that little guy. Even on the bad days at work or school, I always end with a smile because I get to spend the nights with him.
I have been trying more and more to catch him on video so that I can watch them when he is older and smile, or laugh. He is saying some of the cutest things and I hate there is never a camera ready when he says them. You almost just have to have a nice video camera and set it up on a tripod. But I get a lot of him playing with daddy. All of his laughs and giggles. Then he tells me he wants to watch Jacob. So I let him watch all of the videos of him playing and he laughs at them too. It is too cute.He loves to watch videos on the computer now especially since we let him push the button to start it over when it is done. He gets so excited and says " I push button!" ... His favorite videos though right now are Sesame Street Milk and the elephant song. If you have a little one and they like watching videos go show them ... but I am warning you they will want to watch them again. Jacob watches the milk one and says "baby want milk". So when he wants to watch it that is what he tells us. Jacob's uncle Johnny started the addiction. LoL Oh well Jacob saw the video when I was copying the link so I have to go, he wants to watch them. :o)

Jacobs Drawing

Jacob got a Doodle Pro for his birthday in November. He loves it and tonight he was drawing on it. You know it is the magnetic board that you can use the pen or different shaped magnets on it. Well he made a scribble as most 2 years olds do. I like to ask him what he has drawn because I think it is always interesting to hear what kids have to say their pictures are. We all know they never really look like anything. :o)
So when he had finished his scribble I asked him "What is that Jacob". He looked at it for a minute and said "um .... it's a bra". Is he allowed to be 2. He isn'y my baby anymore. I ask him in the mornings when he is crabby if he is my big boy or if he is going to be my baby today. He knows he isn't a baby and always tells me that he is my big boy. He can always be my baby though ... ;o). So he is 2 and has so many new toys, the kid is spoiled. He loved his dump truck and all the cars that he got. All of those noise makers that make it hard forme to study. But he has so much fun. He has one gift though that he is terrified by. I will have to post the video of him with this toy. It is a gorrilla and it walks on it's arms ... he likes it until it fell in his lap and that was the end of it. He doesn't want it anywhere near him. He was rolling the dump truck down the hill and at the end of the hill Bryley(his step brother) put the gorilla. Jacob yells "get it Bryley" and then pushes the truck down the hill. He then walked down the hill and said "no no no no" to the gorilla and then tried to push it off the bridge. I guess he really doesn't like it.
He is also getting so good at talking. Putting so many words together ... he even repeats what people say so I guess I have to start being careful of what I say. I have to spell words sometimes like C-A-N-D-Y .... the other day I spelled it out while I was talking and he repeated the spelling. Of course he doesn't know what it is ... YET. I know that will only last for so long.
Well, he is so much fun and sometimes I wonder if it is possible to love him more. He is so fun, lovable, and cute. Of course I am a little biased, I am his mother. I had to stay home with him on Friday because he couldn't go to schol. If you were in our house that day you would not believe that he was sick at all. He was soooo happy and laughing and playing and doing everything like normal except not swallowing all the time. After he ate lunch though I noticed something in his mouth. I asked him to let me look in his mouth and he opened up real wide and said ahhh .....Under his tounge on the bottom of his mouth was what looked like a blood blister but it covered the entire bttom of his mouth. So I called the Dr office. The nurse had no clue and didn't know what to tell me. So in we went for another copay and a feeling we would not find out anything we didn't already know. That is exactally what happened. The Dr. said he had never seen anything like it and that is looked like a blood vessel had burst in his mouth and it would probably heal on its own. He said sometimes it happens to kids in their eyes and they will just be red for a while. So we left. Today it did not look any better. You can tell he talks a little funny ... and he tells me every once and a while that his mouth hurts. It is weird to me that his cheeks are poofy and swollen too. When the Dr. doesnt know what to do though ... then what? I guess if it doesn't go away we will go see a specialist. Who do you see for that though? Hopefully the Dr. can tell me that. I hate when my baby is sick. I hate when any kid is sick but especially my baby. But he handles it really well! What a trooper.

First Time Strep Throat

There is a first time for everything right? Well today is Jacobs first time to have strep throat. Not fun .... but he is handling it really well. He will not swallow so he walks around with a mouth full of spit. It is really grose. But I told him that he had to swallow his medicine and he did just fine. So I am proud of him. So tomorrow we get to stay home together. I hope he is feeling better tomorrow. I don't know if I want to deal with a slobbery kid all day because he wont swallow. But that is the duty of mommy right. So if I must I must.
He has been potty training and he is doing really well. He always crys when he has to go poo and I think it is because it is so big and he holds it for so long that it hurts him. Poor kid. I think I need to find a way to sneak fiber into his diet. I will have to be sneaky! It is hard to get kids to eat things that are good for them. :o)
Speaking of kids and eating ... Today Jacob ate a grape popsice with his cheese toast from dinner wrapped around it. What is with kids? They like to mix wierd foods that just don't go together.

Halloween

Just some pictures from Halloween. Jacob stayed with MawMaw and we went out. It was nice. We went to 2 haunted houses and payed too much money. They were ok. The first one was better than the second but definitely not worth the money that we paid for them. Then we had dinner at Collettas. That was good. Italian for those of you who don't know what it is. I had Mannicotti ( and thought the whole time how I need to make some again). And Dusty had some trio meal where he got lasagne, alfredo, and ravioli. Oh I better stop talking about it or I am going to be hungry again.

Today I have my neice and nephew over. We have been getting ready for trick or treating tonight. We carved a pumpkin, They picked the blues clues pcture to carve onto it. Dusty gets al the credit for the carving. In fact when we opened it Jacob was the only one who would reach his hands in and pull out the guts. He had a blast. Paige tried to get some guts out with the spoon but it didn't quite work out and she didn't want to use her hands.

They had fun though! Then We baked pumpkin seeds and Paige and Jacob colored pictures from Jacob's Halloween coloring book.

Tonight we go trick or treating. Paige is going to be a princess, James is going to be Spinderman, and Jacob will be a dinosaur. It will be fun. We have had no naps today so hopefully all three children will fall fast asleep when we get home. But chances are they will be very hyped up on sugar.

We also went by Amiee's grave today abd brought a pumpkin, flowers, and bumble bee's because I wanted her to be a bumble bee this year. So here goes.
We had a wonderful weekend in Chattanooga where we met some families who mean so much to me. They are other moms and dads who have also lost a child. Danielle, Holly, Jenny, Nicole, and Mary Ellen. It was such a wonderful weekend and you can read more about it on Amiee's blog. You can also see some wonderful pictures by going to Danielle's blog or Holly's blog.
Halloween is just around the corner and we decided to take Jacob to the store to pick out his own halloween outfit.
